I have had poor service with Ellis er twice. I'm suffering from chest pain, abdominal pain and food poisoning and they have refused to help me. My PCP is no better. This hospital is the worst. They help who they want to help, they are very rude and unprofessional. They want you to do all kinds of test, but leave you in pain stating; I'm not giving you nothing!!! I have been suffering for 4 weeks now and nothing is being done. I am going to find out who I can report this hospital to because nobody should have to suffer, especially the way I am.

My name is Cindy Sedaker.. my daughter Becky was in your ER Wednesday. I came over from New Hampshire to be with her being she called me screaming in pain.. I got my friend to bring her over to the ER since she refused the ambulance and I set on my way.. My daughter waited in the ER waiting room for over 3 hours which I know is potentially normal being I have vast ER experience being an RN for 39 years.. My problem is that not once was she even eyed by a medical person. Not once.. she was in the ER with the same problem the week before and back again for the same thing because no one is bothering to try to find out what is going on.. when she got in.. the iv meds and ct scan came quickly which was appreciated but when it came back normal .. people just stopped coming around.. she had morphine and her vs were not rechecked for over 2 hours before I took them myself.. and when I brought her to the bathroom to get a urine sample.. btw.. not because anyone told me it was needed.. but as a fellow professional I knew.. abdominal pain.. you get a freaking urine.. first priority if possible.. so when i got the urine.. I put it out where it could be clearly seen and went back to attend my daughter. 45 min later I walk around the corner and low and behold the urine is still there.. i had to go out and find a nurse to have it sent down.. and btw.. by that time things had greatly slowed down.. she should have had a surgical consult but quite frankly .. her doctor wanted her to go to Saratoga and the care I see at your hospital.. it is the only place she will go from now on.. and I guarantee you.. it will be the only place I recommend. Dr Bryan Kurtz when asked about what else could be done.. the only thing he could offer was 'we could admit her for intractable pain but that is all that can be done' just what my daughter needs.. symptomatic treatment as opposed to finding out what is truly wrong. When i asked Dr Kurtz if my daughter could have pain med to go home with (and suggesting Mobic or Toradol by mouth to the nurse being narcotics tend to make her sick.. and the nurse promised she would tell the doctor of my wishes.. ) when I asked the doctor about the meds this very judgmental man actually rolled his eyes at me and without saying a word walked away without saying a word.. of coarse we got narcotics which my daughter has not taken and we called her primary md and got the mobic she needed and is feeling more comfortable.. One last thing.. the doctor.. dr kurtz who never contacted beck's primary doctor walked out the door when she was discharged.. I had to go out in the hall after him asking what his thoughts were.. what he might have thought it was.. he gave his opinion which was adhesions from previous surgery which made sense to me.. kurtz dropped the ball but I chose not to pursue it because all the poor evaluations I have heard of your facility I unfortunately have found to be true.. Kurtz should have gotten a surgical consult. this was her 2nd trip to the ER.. I have been an ER nurse for a very very long time.. and I guarantee you.. no one I love will ever step foot in Ellis Hospital again

Don't go there unless it is absolutely necessary. Albany medical center is a far better equipped hospital with a much better attitude of the doctors. In our case all we could feel was that they were trying to make money and do nothing else, where going to albany med was like magic compared to this place. I don't recommend Ellis at all.
